I'm curious to know if your in laws do things like make snide remarks, look at you in disgust while you're talking about something they've asked you a question about, and come up with guilt trip remarks and treat you like your opinions, desires and sentiments mean nearly nothing - did yours play a 1 and half hour video of their family vacation while everyone who went on it was there - I mean how pathetic can you get? It's very funny to talk about actually and I'd like to hear your story.

In laws, ya can't live with em and ya can't shoot em eh!?! One of the meanest things my mother in law did was: Thanksgiving, everybody had just sat down to eat when my five month old twins started to cry because they wanted to be fed. I was feeding one of them and the other one kept crying. My husband just sat there filling his face while my mother in law remarked directly to me, "Can't you make them be quiet? They are too noisy and nobody wants to hear it." There were ten people there who could have gotten up and helped me feed my kids, including the ole mother in law. Not one of them moved. They all just stared at me with frowns on there faces. Things have not improved much since then, and that was 16 years ago.

Well, this wasn't done by my in laws, it was done by my own family...which makes it even WORSE!!! This Thanksgiving that just passed Thursday, after spending a week of baking and prepping and cleaning and getting the kids excited about the holiday and having everyone come over...my dinner sat at the table getting colder by the minute as we anticipated everyone to show. Can you believe no one came? I didn't even get a phone call to say they weren't coming! Finally we reheated dinner and ate. I thought about delivering the pies I baked everyone to take home and leaving it in a bag on their doors to make them feel guilty, but then I realized that if they didn't have a conscious enough to call and cancel they wouldn't feel any remorse once they found their pies and such. This was done to me by my half brother and his dad who were coming together and my mother and her new husband who were suppose to come together as well. My family is pathetic and selfish. They have other priorities...they have addictions that come first. Which frustrates me even worse! I'd gladly take snide remarks over no one showing anyday!! One year my mom was hear stoned out of her mind passed out in a chair while we sat and ate muttering in her drug induced coma about getting her bike out of the creek...we all sat quietly the best we could through dinner listening to her utter nonsense and snore. She awoke about 20 minutes later whiped the drool from her mouth and then stumbled into the coffee table and asked her husband if he was ready, embarrassed by her (he doesn't do that stuff but allows her to do whatever) he quickly said yes he was. Then she turned around with the drool stain still visible and the crust caked in her eyes and told me dinner was really good....how would she have known? She never got off the chair the whole time she was here and slept through dinner. In hindsight...maybe her not showing was the best thing done on Thanksgiving!

I invited my family and in-laws (all from out of state) for Thanksgiving a few years ago. I have 2 young nephews and we LOVE to play together when we get to see each other. Well, my sister-in-law's mother accepted my invitation, then informed me that 1) she was renting a suite on a nearby beach and invited her daughter, my bro and the 2 boys to join her 2) her worthless, free-loading son would stay at my house for a week and intended to bring his new puppy along. All this without him calling or emailing to ask if it was OK with me!

They have never been back to my house.

My MIL is mean all the time, she just acts as if she is the only cook in the universe! She makes nasty food! Then she has the nerve to ask my husband for money (all the time actually!) She is all around not a nice person.

I thought the Potato Incident of 1966 was bad enough, but my wife and sister-in-law mixed it up a few days ago.

My SIL acme over to the house and saw boxes of scalloped potatoes on the counter. She railed that it wasn't real food and my wife should make something.

As far as SIL was concerned, my wife might as well bring tater Tots.

Well, my wife make the scalloped potatoes and brought them over. The lidded dishes were laid out and one was before my SIL. She opened her one and saw....tater Tots.

They went at it for the rest of the evening.
