As kat46 stated, Hitler suffered from Parkinson's. There is no (verifiable) evidence that he suffered from any true mental disease. However, he seems to have succumbed to his own rhetoric and had what could be called a messiah complex. Plus, racism was the worst mental problem of all.

I don't know if he had a mental problem as much as anyone would under the circumstances. I think he was an average person who caught caught up in a political wave of popularity and tremendous power. Not only was the political climate right for him but he utlized the power of propoganda and rousing speeches to stir up the masses with national fervor. He was a superstar of Germany.
Anyone who has had the idea they could control the world would have tremendous psycological pressures to deal with. Throughout history we've had kings and emperors who had tremendous power and were not equipped to handle it. Having power can lead to tremendous psychological pressures. I imagine that you'd have to be very cautious about protecting and retaining it. This undoubtedly would lead to a whole host of mental challenges and complexes including paranoia.
He was expected to answer some difficult very questions of which he passed on to other more knowledgeable people. And with ultimate power everyone was afraid to question his final decisions. His downfall wasn't his mental state as much as it was his inability to listen to the right people and make the right decisions. He might have been able to rule Europe and maybe the world if he had done so. Thank God he didn't or we wouldn't be communicating freely as we are.
