I been in the handy man business for over two years now. I would run an Ad on CL or local paper and get 10 calls per week. Now since the slow summer I am lucky if I get one and the customer want sthe lowest price. Two Years ago it was a good business now after all this time I see the bus. dying, I know there are slow times in every Bus However I have never seen such a Drop Out.........

first off there's always some point in very handyman's life where tings become slow. but things that will help r prestige in ur name when u do quality work, how u write ur ad to make it sound better then the other guy, and expand advertising at minimal cost since every news paper charges u might have to find ways that that dont charge as much and where ur costumers will be looking but if it all fails find a way to broaden your tades with some thing that can make the extra money needed

The economy sucks, no matter what the politicians say. Just because a lot of jobs are created doesn't mean jack, if they are all low paying jobs they don't add much to the economy. Manufacturing jobs used to pay good, till the companies started importing crap from China. Now people are working 2 low paying jobs a week just to pay for gas money and taxes and food.
When the economy tanks, people start going without stuff. Maybe you could advertise on the web, many ads are free.

Unless the local economy overall has tanked, most likely you have a marketing problem. It doesn't help that we are moving full steam into the holiday season, when I would expect business to be slow anyway. But you need to get yourself and your skills known. Try the book "Guerilla Marketing" by Jay Conrad Levinson.

The irony is if you are in Canda and i think you are, the US economy by comparsion is hoppping hot. We have more jobs than bodies. My state has an unemployement rate of 2.3 that is full employement. Most us cities are in the same boat. So, what is Canada doing wrong?
Maybe the bad attitude toward the AMericans on the net.
