Nope. It's normal. Tell your woman "Welcome to preganacy"!

Diarrhea is not healthy at any time. While it could be the pregnancy, it could be any number of things. If it lasts a short time, a day or two, it does little harm. But if it lasts longer, the body not only looses fluids, it loses salts and electrolytes...both essential for the health of the fetus.

The cause of diarrhea can be something simple like food that was tainted (slightly spoiled) or something that just didn't agree with her. That shouldn't last more than a day. Prolonged diarrhea is not natural. See a doctor if it's lasted more than two days.

Relief can be as simple as a little Pepto Bismal, or some dry crackers, some chicken broth, or some other non-irritating foods. Try to sip water to keep hydrated. Stay away from soda pops. A little apple juice would be OK. If water is not desired, apple juice mixed with water may be tolerable.

Don't delay if the diarrhea has lasted more than two days. Call or see the doctor. Good Health!

Is your partner having morning sickness too? While unusual bowel movements are common during pregnancy you need to make sure your partner is not dehydrated and is still getting enough nutrition for herself and your baby. She should take prenatal vitamins to help. If you are concerned you should call NHS Direct or see your doctor/idwife.

Fortunately diarrhea during pregnancy is typically short lived and not something to cause concern. If however you experience diarrhea accompanied by severe nausea or vomiting, it is important you consult with your healthcare provider. You may need medical intervention to help prevent dehydration.

Loose stool is quite normal. however, make sure you stay hydrated. If you become dehydrated, all sorts of miserable things can happen to you, in this case it could even cause miscarriage. Drink lots & lots.

Maybe ask your wife if she feels she is in danger. Try using a neighbour's loo?
