The anwsers to this question are a joke!!!
Kramer was heckled for over ten minutes. One of the things that was said to him was, "you aint funny **** a" then when kramer replied with a witty retort the heckler replied with "You don't know me **** a, Don't fuc k with this **** a".
It also is being reported that the black guys who were calling kramer **** a and threatening him were also threatening the people who opened up the show for Richards..
The only thing people can have on him is the comment he made about "If it was 50 tears ago you'd be hanging upside down with a pitchfork in your a*s That crossed every line there is to cross and was highly offensive!! But you know what though....If those clowns had just shut up and watched the show none of this would've happened!! I find it funny that no one thinks these "Vitcims" bear any responsibility about what happened!!
Heckling and threatening every comedian on the stage that night tells me these punks were looking to be a problem and I don't think they deserve a dime!! Kramer gave what can be chalked up as a human response ..He just had enough of their noise and snapped!!! I'm guessing the people anwsering this question have never got mad about anything in their lives...And before you get into any of the "I get mad and never say things like that" That's why it's a human response.....Every human is different..

I have heard that the guys where heckling Michael Richards and some of the other comedians, but did the other comedians burst out with anger and racism? A comedian should be able to handle a situation when there is a person or group of people in the audience interrupting the show or being rude, and it happens all the time at these comedy places. If Michael Richards really wanted the guys out because he thought they where disturbing the show, he should have briefly gone off stage and asked a security guard or staff member to escort them out for disturbing the show. Instead he decided to do what he did and as a result his career is probably permanently destroyed, and also as a result, I feel embarrassed telling people the name of my dog (Kramer) when they ask.

Yeah, so? It does NOT matter if he was being heckled (and being a professional comedian/actor -- and if he was doing a poor performance he should EXPECT to be heckled or booed)
There is NO Excuse for using racially charged (in other words -- racist) remarks to any member of the Audience that PAID to enter the building for entertainment, and did NOT get their money's worth.
And ... after watching the segments on the news outlets anyway -- his show that night (and I can see it in the shadows crossing the tape) was really terrible anyway -- people were getting up and walking out -- and this means something -- that he STUNK up there ... so yes, people are going to be aggravated when they pay good money to go to a show out and do NOT get a quality performance (I know I would -- but I do NOT respond with racist remarks or heckle -- I just walk out and tell the management how TERRIBLE the performance was).
This is NOT a guy who had enough -- this is a RACIST who uses inappropriate language and relates to those who are paying his SALARY in inappropriate ways too.

The fact is, any black comedian can constantly use any racial slurs towards any race that they feel will be shocking and funny, and no one says a word. It's a double standard that needs to be addressed, but yes, I do think Michael Richards was out of line. If he had used the word as part of his act, in a funny or shocking way, then I would stand by his right to say it, but to purposely single out certain people in the audience, even if they were heckling him, is uncalled for.

Well Michael certainly had had enough and cracked but I think if it was a black comedian calling them the "n" word, there would be no controversy. I am not condoning Michael's behavior, but I think it should be a 2-way street in this case.

Just because someone refers to himself using that term doesn't give Mr. Richards a license to use it too. Don't get me rolling down this path though, since I don't believe in licensure of words in general. The only value they have is that which the listener assigns to them.
I don't blame him at all for getting mad or even the verbal lashing. If I were concerned about my career, however, I wouldn't use the words he used.

i don't think he is receiving unfair treatment. I think that he is sorry that he got caught on tape and yes he is a racist. For him to react to someone saying that he wasn't funny showed that he couldn't handle the stage. He should stick to comedic acting because stand up comedy may be to hard for him. I don't think he should be sued for being racist but he should have to pay in some other way that does not involve money or violence.

What he did was wrong. But I understand this as I too am a comic. There are nights when things aren't going well, when you're not feeling comical, etc, but thew show must go on. It sounds like this was that type of night for M.R. Have you seen the video? I include it here for your judgment.

yeah...I think Richards is getting a bad image...black people are always loud and making a scene...if you go somewhere in public...dont be rude and talk/make noise/harass the person speaking...I think the apology he gave on Letterman was good enough

Did you see the clip? I think when Richards talked about how 50 years ago they would have been hanging upside down, FINISHED HIS CAREER, AND LOST HIM ANY RESPECT FROM ANYONE!
