Why do so many people in this country have such a fascination with getting their houses decked out for Christmas so early? Seems to me that this happens earlier & earlier every year. When I first came here seemed that most people waited until after Thanksgiving to get the lights out etc but not this year they had them out well before Thanksgiving. Now dont get me wrong I love to see the decorations & lights but why do they have to do it so early? There are lots of people who really struggle with the whole Christmas season & the earlier the decorations go up the harder it must be for some.

Another thing that gets me about this too is the fact that so many people seem to think the more decorations they have the better but in all honesty I find these large inflatables all over peoples lawns make things look tacky...one or two is fine but some people have to go overboard & cover there front yards entirely & thats just sooooooo trashy to me. Do you agree?

I totally agree with you.As soon as Halloween is over out comes the Christmas cards, decorations, trees etc. and yes a lot of people do struggle with Christmas.
Personally I feel hearing Christmas carols in the stores at the beginning of November (Canada) and looking at houses decorated so early takes away from the actual celebration of Christmas because it's all too early and commercialized.
If we took the early days to help those in need through different organizations the time would be better spent.
Merry Christmas to you for the right time.

I think to each their own. I know of a neighbor who is not expected to live to see Christmas. They began decorating as early as Nov. 1st. You never know what lies behind the door of the houses or the reasons. I have seen some homes that appear over done a bit also, but I realize each celebrates and reaches a level of joy at their own pace. If you enjoy them, just try to do that and don't question why. Life is too short for some questions. Merry Christmas! :)

The Church asks us to observe the four weeks before Christmas as the season of Advent. It is a time of preparation. Of looking at our lives and making room for the Christ Who comes to us when we least expect Him.
We celebrate the Christ Who came and Who is to come.
Christ is our Light. In a world of sadness and shorter days with earlier darkness, we need to celebrate the light of Christ. For some putting up the lights early helps. If you live in a snowier place you put up the lights when the days are clear. Some also start early to pace themselves, so that they are not exhausted by the time Christmas comes. When you see the decorations, think of Christ Who told us to let our light shine. Be glad that we can use the lights as a symbol of Christ's love shining in our lives.

the more a person puts up the longer it takes and some people I know started the groundwork in September. this is a bit much and where I live they started on November 1ST because they have so much to decorate. but by the time Christmas is here I'm tired of seeing and hearing the Christmas Season.

MY belief is that it has a lot to do with the shops doing the sell on people to get organised for Christmas. We must cash in earlyon Christmas. Another factor could be it takes peoples minds of issues like war and terrorism. Yes I do agree with you that CHRISTMAS IS A HARD TIME FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE.

I agree, and think of the wasted electricity used to power the lights and mechanics of their inane junk! Its getting similar to the automobile thing. Do you really need that blow up, revolving lawn ornament, or is it just to go along with the huge gas-guzzling SUV parked in your driveway that never goes farther than the corner mall?
