I'm a convicted felon with a BS degree in Social Science, and no where to go. Now that I'm a Felon, and with this new label that has been laid upon me, I fight everyday to survive mentally and emotionally. I did the crime and did my time, but you see or don't see that this changes my life in every way. And in turn I have to depend on others to help me and even the State that I was sentenced in. It's a viscous circle. I have opinions like everyone else. As the old Beatles song.... sentence said forever....I heard the Judge say three years and not a life time of punishment. Where does it end? So, I would say I have a lot to say about social inequalities, but not enough time and I've found, who really wants to listen...

We have a National Health Service into which some of have paid a great deal of money during our working life. Un-surprisingly, we expect to receive some of the services we have paid for, like dental treatment. Yet how many of us are able to find an N.H.S. dentist? Most of us have to find a private dentist and pay (again )for treatment. This is social inequality, if we can afford it o.k. it just means that we shall have less money to spend on the things we would liked to have spent it on. But what if people can not afford it? This is social inequality. It is not always a question of poverty and riches, there is social inequality in abundance in this group in between the two.

I question the premise of your question, and its assumption that humans are mere economic units that can be quantitatively ranked by net worth, earning power, or financial standard of living. If life has quality, then it can't be ranked. It's sad how quickly most people answering your inquiry are accepting the notion that the quality of being human is defined as one's net worth. Once you properly discredit the idea of "ranking" humans, then the robustness of the human experience can begin to be appreciated. Truth is, most royalty feels trapped, some of the world's 'poorest' are the happiest, and almost every religious leader in history bore the message of the transcendent experience of being utterly powerless and forsaken.

Can be seen in education, work, economy - personal, state, countries, race, religion, class, gender, etc. I guess anything that can be compared to a different level in society and any kind of oppression is seen against one ie; wage gap between men and women, catholics and protestants in Northern Ireland particulary in '60's, class stratification system, private health coverage versus state and so on

The embracement of Ignorance, and thus its conscious practice,
leads to an almost given fact of social injustice and inequality.

Conscious thought, understanding, and growth is required for equality; ideal but rarely achieved.

water seeks it's own level. there are no social inequalities. everyone gets his just reward. sit in your *** and complain or get off of it and earn your share. there's plenty for everyone. there are no shortages of any real commodities only shortages of ambition and perseverence. perceived inequalities are what underacheivers invent to accomodate their own failures. most social scientists could never make it in private enterprise so they create straw men upon which to blame their personal dilemas.
