It started in the 1950's & I remember that creepy little puppet on strings just as clearly as I remember the aliens hand in War of the World's! Can anyone else relate? It wasn't really that long ago. At least to me, it wasn't!!!

Sometimes I get tired of the same old subjects & questions, so I dig into my past when it springs a "memory" on me! Is this part of what they call "Getting Old?" NAH, It can't be!!! :o)

I can remember it. Buffalo Bob was creepy I thought. TV was so innocent and non-technical then, I guess by age is showing but I kind of liked that.

Oh, sad to say I DO remember Howdy Doody and Buffalo Bob and Clarabelle the Clown. One of the first TV shows I was hooked on. I agree, though, Howdy Doody is creepy. I think a lot of puppets or marionettes are. They remind me of clowns. Also not on my "like" list. Although, Kukla, Fran, and OIlie were pretty cool.

Boy, now I really really feel old. I watched the Howdy Doody Show when I was a little kid. I remember Clara Bell and Buffalo Bob. Geez, that was along time ago.

I'm not old enough to remember Howdy Doody. Just wanted to say it's nice to know that there is more than a bunch of little kids on here. I don't feel so lonely anymore. :)

I do. Buffalo Bob, Clarabel (who just died), Princess Summer Fall Winter Spring, Flubadub, Mr. Blester, and Chief Thunderthud. Howdy has a cousin but I forgot his name.
Do you remember "I Remember Mama" with Peggy Wood on Friday nights? I loved that show. Dagmar is now a raging feminest and head of a group whose acronym is WITCH. Dick van Patten was her brother Nels...all based on the book "Mama's Bank Account."
Some of the early TV was so great considering they were firsts. It all seems like yesterday to me...where did the time go?

I didn't really think he was creepy, but yes, Howdy Doody was a favorite show to watch after getting home from school. "Twang your magic twanger, Froggy."
