I have worked in several schools and whilst it is great to have enough money in your budget and sufficient resources to teach the way you would like to teach. I think the key is to find a school who has both caring teachers, passionate about teaching and learning and parents who support the teachers and the school. Teaching isnt just about transference of knowledge and skills, its about seeing the whole child and meeting their needs, developing the individual to be able to meet their full potential, being able to recognise when something is not right and caring enough to assist. Sadly many people see school as a baby sitting service and as long as they dont have to deal with their kids they dont want to know, that kind of apathy taints the students perception and value of education. School fees are just one indication, in a governemnt school $215 for the year and less than 70% of our parents pay their fees, yes times are tough but if you divided your fees between the number of school days I would challenge any parent to teach their child and keep them focussed for the day on that small amount. School fees go straight into the courses that your child is studying if you dont pay you disadvantage the whole class because it means the money isnt there to meet the cost of resources. I love my job and I am now fortunate to be working in a school that values each student entrusted into their care, works hard to ensure that all their needs are met including introducing breakfast to encourage proper nourishment and hopefully healthy eating habits which maximise learning.... I have four adult children I know the dilemma of chosing the right school, but even the best school wont be able to do its job if the kids wont let it, the best you can do is visit the school, meet the staff and observe some classes and then trust your child and the staff to do the rest.....
good luck :-)

If you're talking about college, a school that is known for how good it is, or how difficult it is to get in. If you're talking about high school, a school that is equally fun and serious. The school I go to now is considered a 'good' school because first of all, we are second in the state to be checked out by people and second of all, we are 'smart.' I don't know how else to put it. Schools around us consider us 'smart' I guess, we get great test scores and stuff, our school is high ranked. We may sound like brainiacs, but we also love to have fun. Dances, homecoming, and everything any normal school would have. You have to equal them out or no one will want to go to the school.

It depends on location, the features of the school like academic programs, physical activities, and school policy. The kids have to be disciplined at least during school hours so your child can concentrate. And the teachers actually have to teach unlike these teachers who just come in for a paycheck. They have to enjoy their job and really take heed to children.
