I like the idea of making your own Christmas cards, saves a tree and is lots cheaper! If you still have cards that were sent to you from last year, you could cut pictures or scenes out of them (or words) with a reg. scissors or a zig zag or wavy scissors if you have them. (The special scissors aren't too expensive, perhaps you could invest in a few.) Glue the cut outs on the folded colored paper, (try a glue stick, works well without the wetness bleeding thru the paper!), put a bead of glue around the cutout, a bead in the corners etc. Pour glitter over and shake off the excess. You can also do the same with words... write with the glue and top with glitter. (Of course, you could do the whole thing with the glitter glue!) One idea for the pipe cleaners is to use them like a clasp on the card, punch holes in the open ends and pull the pipe cleaner through. Twist it or form a bow to close the card. Of course, if you're mailing these cards the pipe cleaners may add extra postage $. I've done card making with small children and they like this!

As long as you're crafting, cut out old Christmas cards into gift tag size, punch a hole in it. Write the "to and from" with the glitter pen. Adds a lot to the whole wrapping thing.

Tear some of the colored paper into small pieces in a variety of sizes and shapes. Glue all the pieces onto a larger piece of heavy paper ( about 8x11) into a colorful collage. When you have filled the paper, draw random lines and squiggles all over the collage with some gold and/or silver glitter glue. Let this dry for about 16 hours then cut the collage into either small squares, circles or Christmas tree shapes. Cut some colored paper into small squares and apply a thin film of glue then immediately place one of your collage pieces onto the square then shake some glitter all over the exposed part of the glue. Allow all these decorated squares to dry then place them under something heavy to make them return to a flat shape. Once your squares are dry, mount them to a folded piece of colored paper in a grid pattern such as 4, six or nine squares to a card front. Use the markers to write Merry Christmas or another simple phrase on the inside of the card.

Fold a piece of colored paper in half then fold in half again, so it's like a little book. You can use the glitter glue to write out a message or draw a picture on the front, then shake glitter over the letters or picture. You can draw Christmas pictures with the colored pencils or markers. You can write a message on the inside to personalize it. You could also draw little pictures on the colored paper and then cut out and glue onto one of the folded pieces. You could make different colored ornaments with the paper and glue onto a cut out tree that you made with green paper. You could cut pictures from magazines or old Christmas cards you may have and glue them onto the cards.
There's tons of things you could do.

I was given some jello molds in the shape of a reindeer, tree, star, bell, and snowman. Maybe buy a stencil of Christmas items and it'll be easier to make them. Or cookie cutters.

buy one more item, a cheap colorbook, cut out the shapes and trace them with the above listed item after glueing them to a sheet of colored paper folded like a card.

What color(s) are your pipe cleaners? If you have red ones and white ones you can twist them together and then bend them into a candy cane shape - glue this on the front of your card.
