Most excellent question. Here is what it says in Romans 13:
3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4 For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.
I happen to be a Christian police officer and, of course, I carry firearms. See what it says in the above passage? Only those who do wrong need to be afraid of the government. We do not carry our guns (swords) in vain. We sometime have to use them in our job. This is not as a threat to others, but it is to protect society. Capital punishment is, in fact, a punishment which is chosen by the individual who has murdered. We can forgive those who have killed our loved ones, but there is a punishment which is faced by the perpetrator. Forgiveness is for the believer, justice is a requirement of the government.

People who claim that Jesus taught against the death penalty have a flawed understanding of scripture. That’s a 21st century spin that doesn’t hold up compared to the original meaning of the text. The original text means that you shall not commit “unlawful murder”. There are at least 15 crimes in the Old Testament where capital punishment is specifically authorized, 7 of which are specified in the two chapters immediately after the first version of the 10 commandments.
If God the Father wrote or inspired something that God the Son hasn’t disavowed, what else does it mean? If someone were to kill a member of my family, I cannot personally take revenge, but there’s plenty of scripture in the Old and New Testament to say the state can execute a murderer for this crime.

No, it is not hypocritical to be a Christian and support the death penalty. Just sit back and think about it for a moment. You can believe in God and believe in the death penalty. You really think it is hypocritical to take someone's life when they are a serial killer? Or when they raped and murdered a child? I think God would say that was just fine.

I think it's hypocritical to be a human and support the death penalty, now before we start our little tirades let's look at how it's administered, do blacks get the death penalty more than whites, why yes they do why is that, are innocent men and women on death row, why yes they are it's been pr oven, until we can administer the death penalty to PERFECTION meaning only those who WITHOUT a doubt, a standard higher than we currently use then I don't see how a thinking person can support it, plus it is usually cheaper to give life without parole than wind a death penalty case through the court system

The first commandment after Noah left the ark was: Genesis 9:6 "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man.
There are other specific demands in Leviticus and Deuteronomy for the supreme punishment.
For those that say that New Testament supplanted the Old Christ said that He came to fulfill the law, not negate the law. Matthew 5:17. IF this is the case then does not the demand for those that perpetrate the most heinous crimes need to be put to death? From my understanding of the Scriptures.

Technically no since the bible talks about that whole eye for an eye thing, But let's also remember that book was written a LONG time ago so it's a little bit out of date as far as punishment goes. (Look what they did to your boy Jesus, don't think that would happen these days)

No.
If so, it's a sin, I'll just have to live with.
When you put a child killer to death, he will never kill another child.
If that's wrong, I'll pay my dues.
(If you saw pictures of little murdered girls, you would know what I mean.)
Many Democrats despise Christians, but they oppose the Death Penalty. They believe that instead of going to prison, killers should be forced to take "Sensitivity Classes".

No, you have to interpret the bible for yourself. Death was used as a penalty in the bible.

YES!!! As a Christian, Jesus' word is final - love thy enemy, turn the other cheek, etc. He revised the rules of the Old Testament so that rules like eye for an eye aren't valid anymore.
