It wasn't as bad in the beginning if the show. I guess it just turned into a running joke; 'Meg is ugly, boring and untalented. Lets insult her as much as possible!' or something.
I think that they're doing this less in the newer seasons, because of other people that are confused as to why she's so hated.

Not that I condone that they should always pick on her, especially on her being moderately overweight in the first few seasons, but for some strange sadistic reason, it's just plain funnier. Trust me. Seth knows what he's doing by having the family pick on Meg.

Have you heard that parents pick their favorite children? I believe this is the case in Family Guy.
Chris is stupid and needs all the attention he can get and Stewie is just a lil baby....with plans of world domination, but.........
So that leaves Meg. She stays home all the time, doesnt really go out, not a lot of friends............just not the "favorite child"
