I read that "adware" simply puts pop-ups onto your computer screen when it is on. but does it actually go into your system and delete your information or what

Even if that were true, the ads still need to be downloaded, and some people pay for the amount of time they are online.

No matter how the ad companies try to downplay it, they are thugs for imposing their ads on people that way.

Most adware is harmless to your computer and not a threat to comprimise your security. But there are some adware that are poorly written by their creator, and end up slowing down your computer because of that.

Not all adware is harmless.

Some track your machine usage, and report back.
Some can even be malicious.

Most dont delete anything, but merely report things
back to the originator of the adware.

No. Unless you click on the ads or download and follow the ads links, those usually lead to programs and webpages swimming with viruses.

un less you try and down load some thing, chances are nothing will brobably get through.
Me, If there is some thing I do not want down loaded on my pc, I just do not allow the down load to take place.
