The first thing you want to do is bag windows 98 and get XP right away. Then if you want to get a new graphics card, you have to know what type of slot it is (PCI-AGP-PCIE) Then you can figure out which graphics card you need to get. Also, make sure that your power supply is enough to run a good card, you gunna wanna need at least 350 watts. Now if you want to go with a new sound card, I would recommend any Creative brand card either Audigy X-Fi etc... I would also recommend on getting more RAM for the "old Dell"

I hope this helps!

It would help if we knew more about the computer in question.

The problem with updating old computers is that it would probably cost about the same amount to get the computer around current technology and buy a new one.

With a graphics card, having enough RAM and processing power is really the important thing. There's no reason to go out and buy a top of the line Graphics card that won't be able to use the amount of juice it needs.

Windows 98 should easily update to XP, but if you do that, you'll be left in the dust again. Windows Vista is going to be coming out soon, though it will probably take a few years for it to become standard due to its high requirements. But generally, you should just be able to buy the update and it should have pretty good instructions.

For the price of a good graphics card and windows XP for an old PC will go a long way in paying for a new PC. Don't throw good money after bad, my dad always told me.

Installing a new Graphic Card with your pc should work. Just make sure it is compatible. You can probably find some good deals on Newegg.com.

It depends on the amount of hard disk space you have. You can try buying just a new CPU. I did that at the beginning of this year and it only cost us 900 bucks.

area won't be the situation, it relies upon on the fee and RAM. for that quantity of unfastened area something like DSL could be solid... this is 50Mb in length and supply module construction, meaning you could upload to it undemanding.
