My baby has been drinkin enfamil w/lipil very well for 8 months now. Since she has been sick im guessing the enfamil is upsetting her stomach. The dr told me of some formula to use for babies w/ diarrhea. i think he said insomil but im not sure....

I don't know that the dr. would recommend just changing the baby's formula just because she has diarrhea. I'd call him back just to make sure. Isomil is a good one to change to if your baby is having trouble with digesting Enfamil, since the Isomil is easier to digest.

But call to make sure, because he may just want you to give her more fluids and keep her hydrated until the diarrhea passes, then see where you stand. It's unusual for a child to change formulas at that late date (I think) because if it was going to bother her, it seems like it would have started bothering her before now.

I think that, if your baby has been doing fine on Enfamil for 8 months, it's probably NOT formula that's upsetting her stomach now. And personally, I'd worry that switching formulas at this point would make things worse, not better. (Switching formula ANY time can cause stomach upset during the transition, and your baby already has a troubled tummy.)[

The point is to make sure your little one is hydrated. Breastmilk or formula are best for any child with an illness. If hydration is a serious concern, you can try Pedialyte, or diluted Gatorade, or just plain water.

If your doctor really wants you to switch formulas, then obviously take his advice. But call him back and find out what he actually wants you to do. Don't just make it up or take some random advice from folks on Yahoo! Answers.
