The number of syllables in each word has nothing to do with if they rhyme or not.

If you are writing a poem(or even prose) you have poetic license. The two words sound very similar and therefore you can get away with using them. The reader is not going to focus on the quality of your rhymes. They will (or should) focus on the content or meaning of your work.

Yes! The vowel sound is the schwa sound. In a poem, you would add two syllables before "fun" in order to make the lines equal. Rhyming has nothing to do with how many syllables are in each word. Rhyming has to do with vowel sounds being the same.
