philosophically we forget things because if we were able to remember every single thing going on around us we would be the most unhappy and worried things over the face of the planet .

think about the many times someone said something which u didn't like or u said something out of emocion or that u really did not mean to say . if we could remember all of those things we just would not be able to have any long lasting friendship with anyone plus would make much more dificult to find someone to spend your life with forever .

i think we would all lose our honesty and would think really carefully before we said anything just to not offend anyone , kind of borring uh ??? . a wise man once said that the clue to have a happy marrieage was to have short memory i guess this could also be aplied to life . so live forget what u need to forget and do not try to remeber every single thing everyobe does or didn't do .

We as humans tend to forget things because when there is an excessive amount of things going through our minds the brain tends to "push" the least important things and later when we try to recall them we have trouble remembering what we had to do because before it didn't see as important depending the type of situation people are in.....that or we don't listen to what we were told or pay attention to what we were doing and forget :)

So we can stfu and enjoy life.

Some things you never forget and the memory is activated automatically, as in a reflex..

Others are details that we don't need to survive.

One hopes that memory would be something that humans select for when choosing a mate. But I don't think that's common >_>

Because sometimes our brains decide that some things are not important and get rid of them. Or certain information is just "pushed to the back" as it were and its stored someplace and can only be accessed if something related to the memory (such as a smell) triggers it. There's probably more scientific terms for all of it but this makes more sense to me.

I think the reason, I forget is because I have so much to remember.

You don't forget nothing and nothing, all that you see is stored somewhere, the problem is that we can't picture that memory.
The only way to find the lost memory is by hypnosis

Remember we are only human, if you have trouble remembering things get a dairy and write things in it leave your self notes. May be you need to have a look at your diet and improve it

because the world is trying to cram information into our heads, and sometimes we just have too much to remember, and we forget.

to me we forget things because we just either dont want to do it, or we just plain dont want to face the things we have to do.
