Since Martin Sheen is such a great President in The West Wing, should he not run for the Presidency for real ?

How about his script writers ?

Being a good actor and good at playing a president doesn't necessarily mean he'll be a good president. Same goes for the script writers. They have created a fictional setting where they have the answers before the questions are even asked. If the issue is too tough to deal with, they don't write the script, or they MAKE it work the way the want it to. Life isn't like that and you don't have that kind of insight or control.

Short answer: Maybe be a good president, but the show is not a good indicator.

Just because Martin Sheen played a president on TV, does not mean he will be a good president in real life.

Yes, in much the same way that you'd want Noah Wylie to operate on you if you were in a bad auto accident.
