I love Greek food especially baklava, Greek salads with lots of feta cheese and olive oil, gyros and souvlaki...there is a huge Greek festival in Charlotte every year and I have gone several times.

Some Greek food is an aquired taste, like Feta Cheese(salty, briny gouey). But most is very agreeable to western tastes. Greeks are not big on frozen foods. They prefer everything to be fresh, but meats are almost always served well done. French Bread and Salad are almost always served. Greeks eat more pasta per capita than Italians. Seafood, Chicken, Pork, and Lamb are big on Greek menus. Nowadays Beef is slowly coming back to the European cuisine but not like before the Mad Cow disease. String Beans, Lentils, and large white broad beans are also very popular. Potatoes and Rice are big.
If you're in Greece you won't have a problem with food. They have everything from Chinese and Japanese to Mac Donalds.

Yes, in Athens. The one I remember best was a lamb dish - lots of garlic too. Not bad. But I couldn't get used to the retsina.
