Yes...they went over board with it....I watch a few but it doesn't cost me anything to vote on the ones I watch...my favorites are Survivor, Amazing Race and American Idol :)

To answer the First part Of your Question No Because A of The New TV Shows (Non Reality) Is Boring and The Main Stations seem there Not Trying to Find/Get Better Ones. Don't Get Me Wrong Once In a a while There will be a good show and They Will Yank it right away or they will decided to end the show at the end of the year and put something stupid on.
Too Answer Your second part Of your Question if someone wants to spend there money calling that is there problem. When there is something to vote on I try to see If there is away to vote on line and that is how I do It I don't vote By Phone I'm To Cheep.

I think there's too much nonsense going on in most reality TV shows.
Have you seen the new Real World Denver cast?
They really scaped the bottom of the skank bucket for this group.

Most 'Reality' show aren't even all that real... I mean how often will you find yourself on an island in the middle of nowhere competing against another team? That's why I watch Cops... now that's reality!
Also they make money off the shows because they don't have to pay actors... they just have one big payout in the end...

there is way too many. I agree. the only one I truly "like" is laguna beach. because at the end of the day you know that they are all really friends and what not.

Yes, I am so over it! The straw that broke the camel's back for me was 'My Super-Sweet Sixteen' ~ ugh!!!
But my favorite is still Survivor :)
