Why do people think ghosts are scary? I haven't viewed ghosts (if they're real) as frightening since I was a child. Ghost movies don't scare me either (except "Poltergeist", but that was more "Demon-y", IMO, and "The Haunting", based on "The Haunting of Hill House"). I only find them frightening if they can hurt me. BTW, I'm pretty sure our house is haunted. (All of us have heard tiny voices, giggling, seen things flying across the room and seen various faces). Does anyone else share my feeling of finding ghosts NOT scary?

I SHOULD have posted this on the "Alternative" thread...! Arrgh! If you don't have anything positive or neutral to say, go post somewhere else! To the person who believes in angels, devils and other christian claptrap but NOT ghosts, I say, why not? They're no more improbable.
Thanks, alan, for that site (and the props!).

People are always afraid of what they don't understand. I lost my fear years ago. Now I research ghosts and 99% of the time I am not in the least frightened. Almost all spirits are just as they were before they passed over. They still have their personalities, there are jokers, loving, grumpy, and even happy ghosts. There is also the rare angry, powerful spirit. These you should fear. I once saw a little girl picked up and thrown by one of these. (the only one I have ever encountered) There must be more like him and I pray never to run across one again.

I have never seen a ghost, so I am skeptical as to whether they really exist. However, if I did see one, I wouldn't find it frightening. There has never been any factual documentation of a ghost harming or killing a person. And proof of the existence of spirits or ghosts would not be frightening, but comforting. It would be proof that death is not the end.
I find living, breathing people scary...not ghosts.

Ghost cannot harm you. They are what's left of a person who has not crossed over for one reason or another. Some simply do not know they are dead or think they need to resolve unfinished business. I just happen to be re-reading, "Visits From the Afterlife", by Sylvia Brown. Although I take what she & other people say about all things otherworldly with a grain of salt, she does seems to have some good concepts about the afterlife.
See her website if you are troubled by something unusual.

I'm not afraid of ghosts. In fact I go searching for them. It's a scientific curiosity for me. I'd like to learn all I can about paranormal phenomena. Don't get me wrong I've been in situations that were a little creepy but never anything that got me to run. If you really like ghosts you should come hang out with us at this site called I Am Haunted - No one will make fun of you there or give out the sarcastic answers you will get here.

I have seen only one ghost. It said what it had to say and disappeared. It was the ghost of a famous, dead, rock musician. This initially freaked me out . . .
Many humans are "sensitive" to picking up vibrations from ghosts, spirits, voices, etc. For some people it comes in the form of a "hunch," as opposed to the "sighting of another world entity." Same thing, different format.
To answer your question, I agree, ghosts are not scary.

For me its not that their scary, its more of an excitement. My grandfather past away 3 years ago and he comes around once in awhile to check up on the family. We know its him because we smell his pipe tobacco.
Have you heard of that show Most Haunted? I would like so much to go on a vigil with them.
Alot of this question comes down to is there life after death? I would like to think so.

Not I ! Why? Because one day, I, too will remain upon this earthly realm, until judgment. We do not die, the essence of who we are does not go to the grave with the body. I welcome the stories of those that have walked before me. Ghosts are trying to tell us who they were, about their lives, often with heartbreaking/heart warming stories. You must understand that as we live life, such is it in death. Ghosts are not to be feared, but understood, and respected.

I don't find ghosts scary--I don't believe in "ghosts", though I do believe in angels, fallen angels, and demons. I am a Christian, and the Bible says "Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world" 1 John 4:4. Meaning that God, who dwells in me as a believer, is greater than fallen angels, demons, and Satan. So I don't need to fear them because my God is much, much more powerful.
