I jjust bought an old house, and among a few others, there are some strange four pronged electrical outlets. I am looking for a jpeg or pdf or any online resource to learn about what these might be...
Thanks

This sounds like, from your description, to be old style telephone jacks.

If the outlet is about an inch or inch and a quarter square with 4 small round holes spaced two wide and two a little narrower, you have phone jacks that went obsolete in the seventies

These are about the only ones I could find http://passandseymour.com/pdf/B42.pdf are there any markings on the outside of the outlet, is it surface mount or flush mount, where are the outlets at in your home?.

it sounds like they are 230 volt receptacles. Get a meter or an electrician.
