If you think your only going to go only as far as a B.Sc. degree then you should seriously consider getting a Biology Education degree. The job market is glutted with general biology degrees.
With regard to just a Biology degree it is always a good idea to get at least 20 semester hours in microbiology, (there is some kind of national certificated in microbiology that has this as a minimum requirement.
Also, strongly consider a minor in chemistry, or something at least close to that, including a course in quantitative analysis.
Last piece of advice. The make or break class in biology that separates the pack is Genetics. Before you enroll in genetics, study the math of permutations and combinations. This is key, you can teach yourself the subject, or learn it in a Finite Math class (only requirement is College Algebra). It does make a real difference, and makes learning the required statistics for biology majors much easier.

You can work as a zookeeper, biologist for government organization, non-profit, or consultant firm, in a museum, research for a university, or go onto vet school, or get credentials and teach.
