A friend of mine actually got a laptop jumping through all those hoops. It's not impossible, but I tried and they wanted me to apply for a bunch of credit cards or pay the shipping on testing products and stuff like that. And, yes, I wouldn't trust most of those things very far either and would recomend good anti-AdWare software and a popup blocker.. if you don't avoid that crap entirely.
If you've got a lot of time on your hands, don't mind being targeted for every form of advertising known to man and have a debit card you might give it a shot.
The other option would be a gun. More expensive but less time and privacy intensive.

Those things don't actually ever have to give out prizes, because the hoops you have to jump through are so high, nobody will be able to fulfill everything. If they somehow do, you've done more than $250 worth of work, so you could've bought it yourself.
Also, Wii is now, so chances are nobody, even legitimate prize give-a-ways, won't have any to give out yet.

I wish!
Pepsi was giving away 360's and stuff(wineveryhour.ca)
But that is the only one that I have seen,I haven't seen any "Free Wii's" yet.
But don't check for them on the internet, usually viruses come through on those links.
