When I was in 5th grade I missed a whole bunch of school, like one day a week, due to horrible migraines. I would have to go home, and I would spend my day (and sometimes night) out in the yard with horrible head pains and throwing up. I had to be outside because when I get nauseous I am very picky--I like fresh air, and I hate throwing up. When I would throw up, or be sitting on the sidewalk rocking back and forth, I would have my Sheltie sitting with me--the other two dog would roam around the yard playing and stuff, but my Sam would sit right beside me through the whole thing. It really made me feel better.

Many years ago I was beaten up by a man that my ex wife was seeing as he didn't want me to have anything to do with our son. I am physically challenged and my lawyer advised me to not go and get my son without a witness as it may reoccur again. I spent 3 days in the hospital passing blood in my urine and was thinking of having this man killed. Luckily a good friend of mine, who once upon a time I couldn't stand nor could he me arranged a meeting with this man and myself. We discussed the events and tried to put the feelings we had for each other aside and ended up shaking hands. I resented the fact that my ex and him had changed my sons name at school etc to his last name without my consent but there was little I could do as he would have beaten me up more at the time. Today that son is 32 years old with two daughters of his own, Papa's girls, and they all carry my family name. As for this man, we see each other occasionally and are civil towards each other. I am eternally grateful that my friend helped me through this hardest part of my life or I may have ended up in jail indefinitely.
