Hey,
I am a Math Tutor in Training...so My Mathematical Advice to You would be...to go ahead and "Multply Through Letters"...such as:
A = [h(B + b)]/2 (Multiply Through Your Letters),
A = [hB + hb]/2,
2A = [hB + hb] (Multipy Both Sides by 2, to Isolate b),
2A - HB = hb (Divide Both Sides by h, to have your only letter of b left),
[2A - HB]/2 = b,
b = [2A - HB]/2 (Go ahead and Plug in Numbers of Area, Base, and Height to get the Base Length You are Looking For)
In a Few Physics Classes I have taken, It is Important to Solve for a Letter You are Seeking...to get The Length You want for that Geometrical Shape. I Hope that Assists You.
Sincerely,
Erin Young

A = h(B + b)/2
=> 2A = h(B + b)
=> 2A/h = B + b
=> b = 2(A/h) - B

A = h(B+b)/2, I hope that this is correct, then
A = hB/3 + hb/2
hb/2 = A - hB/2
b = 2(A - hB/2)/h
