Assuming we are indeed talking about a "minor" burn: At the moment that it happens, you should immediately cool the place down by using plenty of cold water (e.g. keep the area under a running cold faucet for a minute or two) followed by a generous sprinkling of common table salt over the area. Leave the salt on for ~ 5-10 minutes and them wash the salt off again under cold clean water. Believe me this REALLY works, that is if you can get to it immediately. Afterward, you can follow up by applying any good Aloe Vera based ointment or alike. If time has passed and you have done nothing about the burn (like I indicated earlier) then things like watergel would be your best bet, if the area is not infected, that is. If there is, however, any sign of infection, then you would need a good antibiotic cream and I would even recommend you see a doctor. An infected wound is not something to take lightly, no matter how small it initially appears to be.

Aloevera or Watergel.
Both are available in your local drugstore.
Aloevera is all natural from a plant. It works until it dries out and then you have to apply more. Watergel was developed to treat major burns and protect forest fire fighters. I prefer the Watergel because it relieves the pain longer and comes on gauze you can put on the area.

For a minor one to get the heat away from it you can use either a large metal spoon or a butter knife and touch it to the area. Then you can put on something to protect it from being rubbed. Like some neosporin or aelovera and a bandage. Check it in a day or so and see if the area is still tender to the touch.

Apply ice cold for a couple of minutes after the burn. If the skin is broken, try to clean it off gently with an antibiotic soap. Leave the wounded area exposed to air. Keep it moist with a very mild antibiotic salve, or A&D ointment.

Use a medicated ointment like Neosporin, or they also have burn ointments on the market too.
