Hi Jake!
Well, I'm an Egyptian living in Egypt! Egyptians like Americans, and basically all other nationalities. You'll be most welcome to come and visit.
Dollars are accepted in Egypt but not in shops etc. You're gonna have to exchange your money from any bank or exchange service. One dollar amounts to approx. 5,50 Egyptian Pounds.
For accurate up-to-date exchange rates visit www.xe.com
Enjoy your visit and e-mail me for other questions! :)

I dont think Egyptians hates anybody, I do think that you'll be more than welcome To Egypt :) , and about the money.. You might find some places that are accepting U.S Dollars and others that dont, so just to be safe change your U.S Dollars into Egyptian pounds when you come from any Bank.

Btw, Take care by the taxi bills cause somtimes they ask for an expensive price once they realize that you'r not Egyptian.

Good luck and Enjoy your vacation In Egypt.

I chat a lot and the people I mostly talked to are Egyptians. I find that most of them like America and Americans (but they like Canada and Canadians more. Hahaha!) I should not be speaking for them but this is just based on my previous conversation with them. As for the currency, I read in a travel guide book that US dollars are widely accepted in Egypt. Are you planning to visit there soon?

look Jake, one of the best Egyptian traits is kindness, people here never hate anybody who didnt harm them.
Egyptians tend to treat anybody of any nationality or race with kindness, generosity and hospitality until he proves he has bad intentions u know.
ofcourse there must be some people here who dont like americans (recently) but the majority dont.
bare in mind that Egypt consist of Muslims (majority) and respectable christians, and since we all here follow our religions' rules, no hatered may exist in our hearts, as both religions order us to respect others and treat them well since they dont harm us.
and Jake thank u for ur feelings for Egypt, that is sweet and be sure that u will recieve double that love by Egyptians here.
about that money thing, US dollars are so wanted here in Egypt, u just make sure u keep some egyptian pounds with you cause some places dont take us dollars, and my advice is get ur credit card if u have one, it will make it easier for u.

Egypt works with the Egyptian Pound (LE or EGP). Some vendors like to twist this and pretend they are talking about the English Pound.
If you are planning to travel to Egypt, take your ATM card and use any of the ATM machines there for local currency.

American money is accepted everywhere in the world.

Some Egyptians like American movies and want to visit America, I think.

I'm an Egyptian who loves American food, clothes, humour, movies and sitcoms:-) Like many Egyptians, I disagree with several aspects of U.S. foreign policy, but I don't hold it against Americans in general. You'll be very welcome if you decide to come here and you'll have no problem exchanging your dollars for Egyptian pounds from any "Serafa" (that's the place where you can exchange currency).
