With a bit of luck the wheel is just turned hard against the locking pin on the steering lock. Try turning the wheel both ways a bit and see if the keylock frees up. If this doesn't work you'll need to call a Benz dealer.

Ignore the idiots who tell you to hotwire it, drill out the lock, or use a plank through the steering wheel spokes. You'll ruin your car.

try turning the key while moving the steering wheel back and forth at the same time. But it sounds like u have a bad ignition tumbler.

Take the shrouds off and you can probably get at the electrical switch in the back of the key assembly, extract it and turn with a screwdriver, then break the steering lock with a cordless drill or plank through the steering wheel spokes.

shuddering and stalling and then driving fine once its heated up can be signs of vacuum issues. More notably intake/exhaust manifold gaskets leaking. I'd suggest taking it into any full service shop and having them check for leaks. Anything that old should have them changed by now anyway.

Whether you have roadside assistance or not...

Call the dealer and have it towed to Mercedes Benz so they can fix it. you don't want to make the problem worse if you know nothing about fixing cars right?

Either go to an agent or a car thief.
You will find they are both robbers!

Seriously, there is some good advice above. Try that first.

call your Merc garage. Or a lock-smith. He'll probably refer you to the Merc dealer anyway.
