My brother on a scale of one to ten is about a 8 in pain right now. He says that he is able to eat and has taken 2 500 mg aspirin within the last 24 hours. We have tried the salt watermethod, Orajel doesnt work, neither does ice packs on the jaw, and we are headed to try the cloves. Any advice will be much appreciated!

Have the wisdom teeth been pulled yet? If they haven't he needs to get some antibotics, or to use a natural cure. You might try the cloves. Just make sure it is ok to take the cloves orally. When I had cavity's that hurt I used to put a gob of toothpaste on the cavity and this really helped my a lot. From what I have heard it works better then Oragel.

do NOT take more than 2000mg of tyl per day....

You can, however, try 600-800 mg of ibuprofen (motrin, advil, etc) every 4-6 hours; it's more effective on that pain rather than tylenol.

Adding in some tylenol may help a little.

You may need antibiotics before you can get it extracted. if it's off the hook crazy, maybe go to the ER if you cna't wait for the dentist, tho' they'll charge you and you'll still have to see the dentist.

Go to a health food store and get some oil of cloves essential oil, soak a cotton ball with the oil and put it on the tooth and gums.
Should do the trick until he can see a dentist. It's better to not take any pain medication if he can do without it.

My wisdom teeth hurt so bad when they came in crooked, I was seen by an oral surgeon the same day I called at 4 pm. He felt sorry for me and I came back in the next morning as his 1st appointment and he got all 4 of them out. It was relief. I still remember that pain. Take him to the emergency room until he can be seen by an oral surgeon. They will give him pain meds until he can get in.
In the meantime, he can take 4000 mg of Acetaminophen in 24 hours or I believe its 2000 mg of ibuprophen in 24 hours. He can alternate between acetaminophen and Ibuprophen. They can be taken together.

Head straight to the dentist.
2 scenarios
a/It can be saved thru root canal treatment or restoration
b/.It cant be saved- must be pulled out.

Cloves wont work if it is serious.

Get the thing pulled, its obvious that its infected and crowding the other teeth. The dentist told me that its better to get them pulled sooner rather than later when they begin to compress and rot the teeth in front of them.

Try heat on the jaw over the pain along with teething gel, it should help enough to get him through until he can see a dentist...;

He needs to see a dentist. If it is infected, he needs to be on an antibiotic now.
