I know this family who is pretty much in a runt for Christmas. I helped them last year by allowing the mom to use my credit card for Christmas and I paid cash for their Thanksgiving. I really do feel sorry for them as they are good people. What should I do?

How kind you are. Your charitable heart is a blessing to those around you. You can submit this family's name to the various charitable organizations in your area. Do you work? Perhaps you could suggest your office adopt this family. Taking on the burden yourself is generous but don't deny others the blessings of an opportunity to serve. You don't mention why the family is in their particular situation but you could round up a list of names and phone numbers of organizations that help people who need it. There are many organizations that help people find work, get their education, get the health care they need, etc. It's possible that this family doesn't know where to go to get help. Teaching a person to fish is a wonderful gift and just as generous, if not more so, than feeding them once or twice.

It is great to feel sorry. I would put them in touch with an organisation like the Salvation Army OR St. Vinnies because they help people at Christmas. Rather than give the mum your credit card to use you could organise a hamper of goodies amongst your friends to help this family out. IIt is a season of goodwill.

I don't know where you live , but most city's have charities that will help out family's in need, also you could check with the local churches ,, it is very nice of you to be concerned about this family... I am also concerned at the holidays and tend to help too much which puts a crunch in my finances,, God Bless and Happy Holidays

there are government agencies, Salvation Army, Marine Corps League, Churches for these type of folks. not that you aren't helpful but there is a limit to what an individual can do with limited resources and their own obligations. steer them in the right direction and free yourself of financial responsibility.

you should stop bailing them out, if you helped them last year and the mother still hasn't found a job she doesn't deserve any more help...stop "helping" her and show some tough love by forcing this family to accept responsibility for themselves

I just want to say I hope these people aren't taking advantage of you! But I just want to say God is looking down on you and your kind heart!..
