South Korea is becoming another strong economy with Western values of democracy/capitalism.

There are many people suffering in North Korea due to poor leadership. Still, they're very much as Korean as the people from South Korea.

I hope they could one day unite, to allow a better life for the many suffering citizens of North Korea.

Is there any way that South Korea could one day unite/manage a unified Korea?

Good, honest sentiments, but unfortunately, that is unlikely to occur.

It isn't just that North Koreans are suffering. It isn't just that Kim Jung Il is a totalitarian ruler. It's how much the North Koreans believe in THEIR power. Since birth, these people are raised around the idea that their leader is dear, their leader is responsible for keeping the "treachorous Western nations" at bay, and their leader is a god of sorts.

I've seen documentaries on this and studied the situation in North Korea. They are a closed, isolated people, and would never unite with the South Koreans, especially since they associate them with the ideals of America.

if there was not a totalitarian dictator to the north, i think the south would have *already* reunited and helped the north's people.

I don't think so. At least not in the next 50 years.
