need info on a 1998 GMC sierra 1500 that yesterday I drove about 67 miles parked shopped for about an hour got

can not get it to back up but all other gears are fine help

There isn't much YOU can do. It is an internal failure, and will require the skills of a transmission repair shop or the dealer to repair.

The transmission has failed. Specifically, reverse band has failed. Have it serviced.
