I've been hurt sooo much for sooo long, and every time I keep trying to tell myself "they're not all bad" it seems I only get hurt by someone even WORSE than before. For example, my now ex g/f decided to invite me over for Thanksgiving. I get there, and caught her cheating on me. I don't want to be a bitter, paranoid, old person who shuts himself off from society either though. I guess my real question is, where do you go to meet GOOD, HONEST, TRUSTWORTHY people? besides church? that won't work for me, because I'm an agnostic.

Deaner, I know the definition of Agnostic. That's exactly WHY I'm an agnostic. I've been to MANY churches, and now..I honestly just...don't..know. So please, spare me the sermon, ok?

You can't rely on other people to make you happy, because you can only rely on you. You need to be happy within yourself before you can bring other people into your life. The people who gravitate towards you are probably users because they can sense your desperation to know someone good, and most users are wonderful actors. Take some time away from people to work on yourself, and then be choosy about your friends.

PS: Church people aren't any better than regular people. Some of the most hateful people I know I first met in a church pew.

What is causing you to avoid to go where you might find the solution?

An Agnostic is one who "doesn't know". That's the meaning of the word agnostic.

If you truly don't know, then do some research. Go visit churches in your area . But you possibly didn't know that churches are really hospitals of the Holy Spirit of God. They are full of spiritually sick people seeking help from God. Although a lot of them pretend to be well...those you should avoid.

Matt 9:10-13

10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"

12 On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

I looked at your home page,it's obvious your life style is the ruling factor in 99.9% of your problems. You can pass me off as another stupid Christian if you so desire,it's up to you. However the best advice you could possible get is to change your life style and start going to church and give God a chance. He loves you very much, and telling someone their wrong doesn't always mean you hate them, sometimes you tell them because you love them, and that's a scientific fact.I will be praying for you. Doesn't science teach you if something doesn't work ,try something new?

Unfortunately this is probably not the best place to start. But there are still plenty of good people in the world. Just hang in there. Things will get better.
