Wow none of the answers above this one are correct. Some are flat out WRONG or misleading. ALot of people try to explain "relativity" by using that things are relative or speed of light and all that jaz... it's HOGWASH
Simply put: The special Theory or Relativity states that as long as an object is in Uniform Motion, then all the laws of physics apply to that object. Uniform Motion is defined as an object moving at a constant rate (not accelerating). This applies to everything in existance for anything moving in uniform motion. Yes light moves in Uniform motion.
The General Theory of Relativity deals more with trying to explain the forces of gravity on a macro scale.

Simply put, Special Relativity is Einstiens theory of how particles behave moving close to or at the speed of light.
He later expanded this theory to include the effects of gravity on space which became General Relativity.

Very simply put, when you look at the time on a clock, what you are seeing is the light coming from the clock to your eyes. So that information is coming towards you at the speed of light, right? So if the clock were moving away from you at the speed of light, it would look to you as though the clock had stopped! From this "thought experiment", Einstein concluded (and subsequently proved) that nothing could go faster than light, and that time & space must be, at best, 'relative' measurements rather than absolutes.

Einstein's theories, everything is relative. Time itself, as well as distance, is relative. Space curves due to mass, causing gravity. Simple? :)
