emo in the day was a slower ver. of punk with goth sensibilities. now.. now its a marketing vehicle to lure young ppl and delude their way of living their lives

ophelia: correct. I was 15 in 1990! Around 93, someone gave me a Christian Death and Dead Can Dance and my eyes were opened.

If you think the change from the 90s is bad, you should hear my husband complain about how different it is from the 80s. Yhea, it's changed, but than again, so have you. Back in the 90s, you were probably a BabyBat yourself, so you didn't notice all the fakers, but now you know more, so it seems like everyone else knows less. The Hot Topic teen goth thing is very annoying, but they'll leave and go to a new fab and leave the real goths in peace. A few months ago I was at a goth club, dancing next to some of the Hot Topic kids, when a new song came on, and the kid next to me said to his friends "I hate this song, I'm going to sit down." The song was "Christine" by Siouxsie & the Banshees. If he didn't like Siouxsie, why the hell was he at a goth club?

Eh I have to agree with you.
By the way...I'm not calling goth "super gay"
Sorry if you took it the wrong way.
People just like to label other people. And sometimes I find it annoying.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for posting. I agree. Very few authentic goths dare call themselves 'goth' anymore for fear, nay dread, of being confused with the aformentioned groups. Viva la revolucion, and may we all live to see the purging of the posers.
