Well Hockey is not a big sport in any predomitinally black countries where NHL players would come from so most would come from Canada, Europe, or the good old US of A. These countries still arent big on hockey because of the expense of the sport, it is not and will never be a widespread multi-class sport. Not racist but black people tend to be in a low class. Also Anson Carter is a black player in the NHL and he is sick.

It's just a sport but not many other ethnicities look at hockey as a career sport because of all the hitting and everything else.

It started in Canada and continued in Europe and into America. It may be called a white man's sport, but it is not. Have you heard of Adam Laroque, or Anson Carter, they're not white. It just appeals more to the white people that are playing. Plus, people that play usually have numerous ice rinks and snowy winters where they live. There just might be white people living there.

NHL hockey is mostly a foreign sport, if you look up and down the line ups mostly Canadian and europen....Americans make of the smallest part of the league. In these countries there is not a large minority population, so there is not a large population in the league. In the last ten years there have ben a few more,l but most of them have been enforcer so far, I havent really seen any skill players, but Anson carter has some talent andnow there is a guy on the coyotes who is decent...

I don't think it is considered a White Mans Sport there are just more Whites than other nationalities--and if Your referring to black players their has been plenty over the Years in the NHL.

It's not because of the players. The NHL is the most diverse league in world and has players from over 100 countries. I see the league is growing after a little bit of a drought the last 5 years. The new TV contract with NBC and VS. should help. The game is more exciting then ever!

I didn't know it was. Sounds kinda racist to put it that way. Now a Candian or European sport sure but never heard White Man's sport. The reason that happens though is because the players tend to be white.

Well, I think that some of it has to do with the fact that barely anybody from Canada or Europe has colored skin, so mainly their skin has a white color. Intersting fact though: I can only count FOUR black people in the NHL, which I will now list:
1. Georges Laraques (Pheonix Coyotes)
2. Anson Carter (Columbus Blue Jackets)
3. Kevin Weekes (New York Rangers backup goalie)
4. MIKE GRIER!!!! (San Jose Sharks)
GO SHARKS!

Same reason running sports are considered African sports. I don't really see a lot of "colored" people living in cold climes. Then again last I looked Paul Kariya, Scott Gomez and Georges Laraque are not "white."
