Like the person said above. 0.038% of the atmosphere is made up of CO2. That's 3.8 parts per million. So that's why it won't take very much for people to double the amount of CO2 that is naturally occuring.

Carbon dioxide, along with water vapor, methane, and ozone, are all variable gases. That simply means that they are not always the same in the atmosphere on every given day.
However, an estimated value can be given for the percentage of CO2 and it would be close to 0.035%.
To the post above....78% would represent the amount of nitrogen in the atmosphere. Oxygen would be 21% and the last 1% is made up of various variable gases as mentioned above.

Don't buy that garbage go measure it and see. Granted there should be a bunch but again if u measure it it is not there because of the plants and photosynthesis, don't u remember about that from high school. and the plants are doing a great job. I did work with CO2 and wore a monitor because if u walk into a low place full of CO2 u die of suffocation. My calibrated monitor only red ! to 2 parts per million. The plants need CO2 as much as we do oxygen.

I am not sure about the percentage, but here are some statistics up to the year 2003...

Also, this is a good article...

Have you seen Al Gore's documentary on global warming (called the Inconvenient Truth)? If not, I highly recommend seeing it. The charts and stats he shows us is very disturbing on how things have progressed in the last 10 years and how politicians have just sort of ignored it. It's scary.
