start out by writing the equations you know:
peach = x
nectarine = 3p + peach = 3p + x

So if Kamal buys 4 nectarines and 5 peaches:
4 nectarines + 5 peaches = 4(3p +x) +5x
We know this equals to 1.47

So multiply it out...
12p +4x +5x = 1.47
Solve for x...
12p + 9x = 1.47
9x = 1.47 - 12p
9x = 1.35
x = 1.35/9
x = 0.15

Therefore, a peach costs 15p.
We go back to the original equation for nectarine (3p + x)
Plug in x.
Therefore...3p + 15p = 18p

With this you should be able to answer all the other parts.
Good luck!

You need to understand how to get to the answer, here are the steps:

Let cost of each nectarine = X, then cost of each peach = X-3
Therefore

4X + 5 (X-3) = 147 pence
>> 4X + 5X - 15 = 147

Now you should be able to solve for X and find out the answers to every listed question

a) Write down in terms of x:

(i) The cost of all peaches.........5x
ii) The cost of one nectarine......x + 0.03
iii) The cost of all the nectarines.......4x + 0.12

(b)

i) Write down a equation for the total cost of the fruit.......9x + 0.12
ii) Solve the equation to find x...........x=15p (£0.15)
iii) What is the cost of a nectarine?........18p (£0.18)

In all of the answers is it is 0.00 the .00 is the equalivent to pence
hope i've helped
