I mean, we are supposed to have separation of church and state. So what is the argument against gay marriage from a legal standpoint? It's not like homosexuals will go away, or stop having relationships just because they can't marry. Same sex couples are allowed to adopt kids! If there's no problem with them raising children, why can't they get married? It seems illogically discriminatory to me.

The whole gay maariage thing is so bothersome to most because the gay people want to get married in churches
not even taking into account the act in itself is one of the sins of the bible and marriage well the word itself has been throughout
history as the joining of a man and a women. I do believe most Religious doctrines are upset that the use of marriage is being thrown around like the word is not a sacred bond between man and women that the word marriage should only be used to describe that bond of two opposite sex period. Gay people must realize that word is sacred and is defined in the bible and many other books that have been written outside of the church sector.
Use coupling, use partnering. Marriage/married is a sacred word so if people are making this choice in life to be commiting a sin in the eyes of GOD then they should find their own word to remark on there relationship.

In this country money not religion rules government.. The super-religious people have a loud voice but it is really a politicians nightmare.. What l mean by this is it's more of a moral issue than a religious one.. Most People in the U.S. don't feel gay marriage is morally correct, for several years it stayed out of the public eye and never was an issue.. Sure it has always existed but it was kept quiet.. What it boils down to is money and votes.. A political career will end far to soon if the politician doesn't follow the voice of the majority, and the voice of the majority is "no to gay marriage". What l don't understand is the fact that these "high moral" people who declare gay marriage is unethical and immoral don't have a problem with two people of the same sex or not living together and, like you said adopting kids.. They really aren't following the whole issue.. They're just fighting the marriage scene..

I don't get the equal treatment under the law thing? What laws are different for a gay man than for me? The law is the same for everyone and so is this equal rights thing I hear all the time. In the state I live in, it would be illegal for two straight men or two straight women to marry each other as well. I guess you could say that is equal treatment for all. It is not really equal rights that some say they want it is actually new rights that currently nobody regrdless of race, sex, color, creed, religion, or sexual preference has. There is a big difference between the two. I also dislike the comparrison of this issue to what black Americans went through not long ago. I have never saw a sign on a restaurant that says "STRAIGHT ONLY" or one on a restroom that says "NO GAYS ALLOWED". Personally I could care less about this issue or what people do with their private lives. I could never imagine waking up every morning with a big hairy leg rubbing up against me but to each their own I guess. I know you can never fix all the bias we as individuals have....and we all have them but the bottom line is in this country basic civil rights and laws are the same for all. What you are talking about changing goes much further than religion. I think our society and culture in general still views marriage as a union between a man and a woman and that will be difficult to change no matter how many new rights and laws are conceived.

Well you're correct it is discrimination. It's for completely religious reasons. Unfortunately a lot of our politicians run on that platform… of being a good, devout, _____ fill in your religion. Unfortunately when they get into office some of them molest the page boys.

Many people fear that if you give guys the same rights you are excepting them and making them equal….????? that's right and if you didn't…. that would be discrimination.

Gays just didn't come out of the closet…. okay metaphorically….. it took to heterosexuals to produce one gay person. Think about that. So if you let them get married there not a produce more gay people. Only heterosexuals… as God-fearing ones…. can produce a homosexual.

Now you could say it's against the law…. those sodomy laws…. wait a minute sodomy… Sodom and Gomorrah. That's right to religious people brought those also.

And as God with all his power attacked the gay people…. destroyed them… wipe them off the earth….. let's see. Okay the religious people are going to say AIDS. Because it targeted them. They may have been the first group to encounter AIDS but now AIDS affects heterosexual men, women and children. I'm thinking God as a whole lot more accurate than that.

Although some people here have loosely interpreted the Bible here let's look at what it really says. The Hebrew Bible says “if a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death” Leviticus 20:13 Well there you go... that looks like the biblical word we'll just have to follow…. wait a minute what's that death penalty right before it… you know Leviticus 20:9 says the punishment for cursing at your parents also carries the death penalty.

Oh kids…..

Based on the above you got a lot of people to kill…. but wait a minute killing is a sin….

They say it is just wrong. Like we are supposed to shape our lives around the governments morals and standards, like they are moral to begin with. I think they should just let them get married. As long as we have been on earth, there have been homosexuals. There will continue to be. Regardless if they ban gay marriage, that doesn't mean they will wipe out homosexuality. What are they trying to prove? "If they don't get married, then they will all go away" Stupid!!!! I don't get it. If they are saying it bad for homosexual marriage, what they don't get is the fact that they are having pre-marital sex. So which is it? Can't have one without the other. Wish the government would make up my mind. ;)

I'm christian and am against the RIGHT of marriage to same sex couples, because I believe marriage was an instution made by God, and to associate marraige and same sex couples is perverting Gods word. However I hate the SIN not the sinner. I treat peopel with eaquality and pray for them. There is seperation from church and state, but this country was Founded on biblical princpals and fought for for religious freedom. Gay peopel have the right to co habbitate, date and other things becuase thats a human right, but marraige is a word that only exists because of God, is common for peopel who are not religouis to be married, this much is true, but its roots lay in the formation of man and woman.

I think you know the right answer. You just need to confess it and move on. We are suppose to love everybody, however if anyone insists on going against the rules that has been layed out for all of us. God's rules. Then the only thing to do is to pray and continue to love. Everything we need to know, is in the B I B L E. I would hate to have lived a life of lies and not make it to where God is.

Political is the other argument.....they can pass laws that can stop gay marriages in certain states......however it doesn't stop gay people from living together........Politically and Religiously speaking it is not morally right. That is the argument.

The short answer is NOPE... There are no real arguments. In fact it is the endorsement of the principals of marriage (even if you call it domestic unions) that add to the social fabric of society.
