My son lives with me and he went to his mothers for Thanksgiving (6 hour drive). I ended up going to my fathers for Thanksgiving (12 hour drive in other direction). For the last 4 years we have meet in the middle. I've always made the drive, but sometimes the mother has another driver pickup/dropoff our son.

This time, I hired a driver to pick my son up on Sunday at the normal meeting point. This driver is a family friend (25 years, 50 years old).

The mother has been informed that I won't be meeting, but instead my hired driver will be there. The mother has now refused to meet.

I don't know if there is a federal law or state law, but could anybody share any knowledge they have related to this issue.

I suppose my question would be "Can the mother refuse to meet with the father's hired driver?"

Thank you,

Don

I wouldn't think so, she is just being petty. Most parents would be happy just to have the help. I hope it works out for you.

Your ex knew this friend of yours too? If she did and trusts him as much as you do, then she is just trying to make things more difficult for you. But if she doesn't know this friend, as a mother of 3, I might hesitate to have my child/children go with this strange man. You never know these days..one can't even trust a priest. (Which is whole different thing). I am sure there is a law about not allowing you to visit when you have appointed times.

I kind of got thru the samething....But if you have the custody order that says from what days she is allowed to take him....and she does not return him...you can file kidnapping charges againt her. If she lets someone pick him up what is the different if you do it. You might have to take this to court and have it listed with the court who can pick/drop off you child_

She can refuse, it is her right. But not withhold your son from you. I think she just wants to run things her way. Best luck for all!!
