tough question, how much is public drilling and how much is corperate? The New Government would have to negotiate with the oil companies in all fairness I should imagine. Kind of hate to bust up the Union Flag though although the islamic lawsuits would likely get rid of all those crosses first. 4-5 million folks in Scotland what percentage is not Scottish? Tough decision going off on your own the US almost did not make it in spite of all the natural resources. How is Labour going to maintain itself based on the per capita (those that do not want to work) unemployment versus jobs and oh yes the free medical! Don't get me wrong I love Scotland I just fear for it.

EDIT GW wanted the Scotch and did not invade so nyay.

They can have it today - Oil is irrelevant to the overall economy and it is owned by the multinationals..
The problem would be the logistics of the massive deportation of all the Scottish living in England including the politicians (Gordon Brown and Alex Salmond, Reid, Cameron) in the the new Parliament comprising England, Wales & N. Ireland.
Scotland just another marginal little country in Europe with a population of 5 million and decreacing with far too big a voice in the existing UK parliament compared with thier mere approx 8% of the UK population.
N. Ireland population: 1.6 million
Wales population: 2.75 million
England population: 52 million.
At least we could get on with life in and progress in England without the constant winging of the Scots.

Scotland doesn't want her independence. If it did then the SNP (Scottish National Party) would be in power at Holyrood and not the pro-Britain Labour Party.

As far as the oil is concerned it is regarded as some of the purest around (makes better quality gasoline than Arab oil).

However, I can't see the British Government wanting to give it up easily, although by rights the oilfields of the North Sea do lie within Scottish territorial waters.

Oh, and don't mention it to George Bush. He is likely to invade Scotland in an effort to "liberate" the people, and the oil of course..

Scotland under no circumstances had to hitch the union, scotland became compelled into the union with the help of their own King, genuinely shown with the historic incontrovertible fact that each and every noble who supported it became bribed with English money, i will particularly genuinely provide a catalogue of each and every individual bribed and with the help of how a lot. England needed the union and used each and every dirty trick accessible to them to get it. As for the oil you do comprehend which will be determined with the help of international regulation do not you?, at the same time as Scotland is going self sustaining, they are going to receive their maritime barriers, unique monetary zone and so on comparable to the different self sustaining us of a contained in the international. If Scotland leaves the united kingdom will end to exist hence so will uk waters and they are going to be divided in accordance to international regulation. Now when you're heavily putting forward rUK ought to not abide with the help of international regulation then which will effect in action from the UN. Oil is easily a spread of issues the position that's already determined who this is going to move to. If Scotland is going self sustaining good the following regulations immediately observe: The zones of maritime barriers are expressed in concentric limits surrounding coastal and characteristic baselines.[a million] Coastal waters—the zone extending 3 nm. from the baseline.[2] Territorial sea—the zone extending 12 nm. from the baseline.[2] Contiguous zone—the area extending 24 nm. from the baseline.[2] unique monetary Zone—the area extending 2 hundred nm. from the baseline except at the same time as the gap between 2 countries is below 400 nm.[2] So perhaps you'll care to describe why you imagine the united kingdom splitting up will one way or the different be exempt from international regulation? and also you'd be allowed to shop any oil it really is not on your maritime barriers.
