If I'm online and leave it alone for 8-10 minutes, I have to unplug the modem, then plug it back in. And when I log onto my Yahoo home page, I always have to sign in again. I have an HP Media Center, and have no idea why this is happening. Thoughts?

Have you installed any new programs lately?I had the same problem and had to do a complete system restore. Not the normal one but a complete refresh that took my computer back to day one.Dont remember how it was done HP sent me the instructions.First try a normal system restore from before you started having problems. If i had to guess i think it might have something to do with your firewall or spyware try turning them off for the length of time you normally have problems or you might have a virus there are alot of crappy spyware and firewall products out there i should know since i must have tried them all.

Since you mentioned you go to YAHOO HOME, im assuming your ISP (internet service provider) is SBC YAHOO DSL...If so, and i have it myself mind you, it has a connection manager that automatically logs you in and connects you to the internet; which in turn is really annoying when you get disconnected for whatever reason.

Do this.

Start>Control Panel>Network Connections>Under FILE choose NEW CONNECTION>select the Connect to internet to browse web> and insert your ISP CD all over again.

Your username and password will be the same you use for messenger/yahoo answers/yahoo home.

So instead of turning off and on your modem, you would just see a shortcut to your connection on your desktop, double click, and connect button. Hope this helps!
