I saw my baby at six weeks. It of course didn't look like a baby but it could be detected.
Did he do an internal ultrasound??? They can detect more than the ultrasound done over the belly. If your doc was concerned about an ectopic pregnancy he would see it on the ultrasound.
Ask your doctor what the next move is and voice your concerns to him. He should order another ultrasound immediately.

Doctor did examine you. So the doctor is a batter judge then any one in this forum.
Believe the doctor, there is a chance that it is 7+or- 3 wks so you may be right.
You have three thing, you opinion 4 wks., doctors view 7Wks., and test say yes. # out of four, if I red between the lines then I think you are not sure, as far as keeping the baby.
So you can always give it up for adoption, and it can be a open adoption so you can see the child from time to time.

When I first got a positive on my preg test, I went to see the doc and she did an ultrasound and they didn't see anything. They told me that it might be ectopic as my uterus lining was thick - which signified that i was preg. She asked me to do a blood test and come back in a week's time. A tension filled week later, they did another ultrasound as my blood test was positive - and wonder of wonders they saw the sac, but no embryo. Sometimes, some children show later than other. So don't worry - unless you have pain in your abdomen, shoulder or have bleeding, take it easy and go for a further check up after a week. You will see your bundle of joy then. I am sure. Fingers crossed and praying for you...

I've never been pregnant nor do I have children, but this is what I've studied, read, and heard from qualified people: It's usually rare to be able to spot a fetus on a sono when you are only 7 weeks, or especially only 4 as you think you might be. Ectopic pregnancy, per Oxford Dictionary of Current English, Third Edition: "A pregnancy in which the fetus develops outside te womb." These are rare as is another type of pregnancy called "tubal ligations": The baby develops in one of the fallopian tubes of the mother. Respectfully, I think the definitions I've given for both are self explanatory. Don't worry, you'll be fine. Think positively.

If this was an abdominal sonogram, it's unlikely the fetus would be visable. In early pregnancy, they usually only show up on a transvaginal (internal) sonogram. Don't worry. If it were an ectopic, you'd already have symptoms, so don't worry about that, either.
As for the discrepancy in how far along you are, it sounds like your doctor is counting from the first day of your last period (standard measurement), while you're counting from conception (gestastional age).

It is way too early to see a fetus if you are only 7 wks along. The baby isn't even the size of your thumb yet! Give it time. As long as the dr told you that you are pregnant, then there is nothing to worry about.

if you are pregnant in your tubes you will be able to tell, it will be so painful you cant walk. honey I'm not trying to scare you but 2 years ago i was preggo and the doctor did a sono and didn't see a fetus but he did see a sac and i ended up miscarrying later. but this year i got preggo again the doc didn't see any thing and they thought i could be repeating another miscarriage, or it could be too soon so they sent me to the lab 2 days later to see if my quants doubled from the blood test they took that day so i went back and they said it did double and they asked me to come in for another sono and i did see my little baby. and now I'm 1 week away to giving birth good luck and again i didn't mean to scare you with the first story

I saw my baby at 7 weeks. I could see her head, and leg and arm buds. The pregnancy is counted from your last period, that may be why you think you are only 4 weeks along, because the first 2 weeks you aren't really pregnant. I don't know why he couldn't see the baby, all my friends who had early sonograms saw their babies too, but if the doctor isn't worried then you shouldn't be.

I am 24 weeks now, my first ultrasound was done at nine weeks...and even then the doctor started off by saying we may not see anything because its so early. You're doctor should have told you that its normal not to see much of anything that early so that you wouldn't worry. I wouldn't stress...stress can affect your baby...give it a few more weeks then go see if your doctor will do another sonogram...did he do it internally or externally...sometimes that early if its done externally...you know...over your belly its more difficult to see anything so if you can have him do it vaginally...that may help too, but dont worry.
