I have seen this in my pond, but never in an aquarium, it must be very stinky, things are rotting, decomposing and some kind of fly laid eggs or your turtles or plants had larva or eggs on them when you got them. I would scrub my turtles shells I don't know what to use to kill the bacteria the pet shop will. Then empty and scrub that tank! Throw out rocks, pebbles sand whatever! Start over and do a partial water change every few days and a full change once a month, more often if it gets stinky! They are very hard to keep clean if you are not really attentive. Those worms could be dangerous!:( :0! because some can bore into your turtles shells and it does make a hole and the turtle can die. I had a big mud turtle that we treated for that, with boric acid and something else, I don't remember, but the turtle got thinner and thinner and I let it go back to the stream my kids found it in. So, be warned! Keep them clean. And good luck:)

Turtles often carry worms, especially wild-caught turtles.

You can contact your vet for treatments, or just not worry about it too much. As the turtle continues to get healthy food and live in a good habitat, they will often fade away.

I'm curious on how often you clean your turtle's tank. May I suggest cleaning it more often? Moist bedding is a habitat for worms.
Trust me, only time I've ever found worms in the bedding of one of my animals, was if the bedding was moist for too long.

turtles and tortoises often have pin worms. They are small and often are excreated in their poo. Have your vet check your turtle to see if it is pin worms. They can deworm turtles and tortoises. Too many pinworms can cause problems for your turtle. Also there are natural foods you can feed them to deworm them. If they eat greens feed them some romaine lettuse. But please have it seen by a reptile vet in your area.
