Risk:

Why?

1. More strategy involved
2. You get to be an army general, instead of an iron or a thimble
3. There are very few times in life you get to say, "I'm attacking Kamchatka, roll 2 dice"
4. If you become obsessed with it you can collect all of the different versions: Risk, Castle Risk, Lord of the Rings, Risk, Star Wars Risk, which unlike Monopoly, all have slightly different rules and gameplay.
5. Gives you instant street credibility if you're trying to impress a geek like me :)

Both are excellent games, and I'd hate to have to choose only one. I've played the new Monopoly Mega Edition, which is wicked fun. Check it out at the site listed below.
