√50 + √72 - √8
√(25*2) + √(36*2) - √(4*2)
√25√2 + √36√2 - √4√2
5√2 + 6√2 - 2√2
9√2

√50 = 5√2 (50 = 25*2)
√72 = 6√2 (72 = 36*2)
√8 = 2√2 (8 = 4*2)

√50 + √72 - √8 = (5+6-2) * √2 = 9√2 = (√81)*(√2)
= √(2*81) = √162

you would simplify first - 50 becomes 5 root 2, 72 becomes 6 root 2 and 8 bcomes 2 root 2. then because they are all the same inside the root you can add/subrtact the first number. So 5 + 6 - 2 = 9. therefore the answer is 9 root 2

How did you get that?

Let's see what perfect squares are in those numbers:

50 =2*5^2,
72=12*6 = 2*6^2
8 = 2*2^2

so
2^(1/2)*5 + 2^(1/2)*6 - 2^(1/2)*2
there's a common factor
2^(1/2)[5+6-2] = 2^(1/2)*9 =

9*2^(1/2) is the best form.
