Understanding life is about as mystical as it gets in my reality.

Several - seeing the universe as completely united under one consciousness, being suddenly amazed by my primate's hand and my ability to control it at will, looking down a river over a bridge one day, and suddenly understand 'tat twam asi - that you are' - meaning I am not only everything I experience, I am also those things which I experience.
Those moments are few and far between, but they are perfectly natural. Most people will experience some sort of mystical, or peak experience in their lives. And I'm not talking about ideas induced by drugs either - true peak experiences leave a deeper mark on the person and occur naturally.

Whenever I make a new friend and I feel that energy I know that it's mystical. Just like seeing someones art and connecting to it and not really knowing why but all the time enjoying the experience.
