The west end is the most expensive part of Glasgow. If you are wanting to rent a flat, you would pay probably at least £380 per month for a room in a nice shared flat. If you want to rent a flat of your own, it would be in the area of £700 per month in the nice parts for a small flat. You would also have to pay a deposit before you rent, of at least one months rent, and one month's rent in advance. So you would probably need at the very least £2000 to get yourself started here, and that would be if you have a job already. If you want to buy, it's about £100,000 for a nice one bedroomed flat, or more depending on the exact location.

Don't listen to the person here who said Glasgow is depressing, all cities have depressing parts. I was raised in the west end of Glasgow and its a wonderful, friendly place, as everyone who has been will verify.

good luck :)

Don't like Glasgow, I found it depressing and the atmosphere unfriendly. I would suggest you rethink and go to Edinburgh instead.
