I'm concerned about funeral expenses if/when my Mom passes. She's currently residing in a group home (she's mentally ill) and has a condominium that is for sale; however, most of the proceeds of that sale will go towards her care at the group home and her resent hospitalization. Afterwards, she will be receiving disability income from the State. My question is, if there's no money set aside for her funeral expenses (I certainly hope that her financial advisor/conservator is doing this) will the responsibility be put on me and my sister? Is there something that I can sign NOW, way before her death, stating that I am NOT responsible for this?

You need to speak to an attorney about your rights and obligations. Also, why not speak with her financial advisor to find out what, if any, plans are in place concerning your mother's death.
